DJ Spen feeds your soul with some classic 90’s soulful house.

Veteran U.S. based house producer DJ Spen shows the fruits of his lockdown labour and provides some well needed positive vibes with his latest release ‘Soulful Storm’. It’s been around 6 years from his previous release ‘Transitions’ which was also released on his own imprint Quantize Records. The Album is packed with a host of features including; David Morales, Crystal Waters and soul singer Cornell C.C. Carter in a throwback back to that 90’s Chicago house aesthetic.

He once again teams up with vocalist Tasha LaRae who provides soft vocals in a funky rendition of Angie Stone’s ‘Wish I Didn’t Miss You’. Strong, soulful vocals and melodic piano chords dominate gospel inspired house hit ‘I Got The Love’ in which Singer/songwriter Carla Prather’s performance steals the show.

They are tracks that break up the flow of the album however, and explore the other sides of Spen’s productions as he goes back to his disco roots (which he talks more about in our previous interview with him here) in ‘Mr Melody’. He also travels into new territory with afro house and RnB infused dance track ‘Perfect Timing’ which features vocals from Brandon Yancey.

Standout track: ‘I Got The Love’
