We keep our ears out for the tunes that are burning down clubland. This week we present some select cuts from Denis Sulta and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams teardown of Corsica Studios.
Glasgow has always been a melting pot for alternative culture and underground music and the city seems to be churning out an endless conveyor belt of top electronic talent. This weekend saw some of that talent head south of the border to join London promoter Tessellate at Corsica Studios.
As the snow came down thick and fast so did the tunes. It didn’t take long for the crowd to get into fifth gear as Denis Sulta back to back with Big Miz blurred the lines between disco, trance and house. The closing song of the set was a bass heavy techno remix of Darude – Sandstorm (Superchumbo Remix) leaving the crowd close to rioting as label bosses Dixon Avenue Basement Jams took the reigns.
Dixon Avenue Basement Jams have built a reputation for delivering raw, club focused records and that was exactly what the crowd were afforded. Track after track clicked effortlessly and the jam-packed room rewarded each track selection with euphoric cheering and applause.
Denis Sulta had the task of closing room one but doesn’t take himself too seriously and that is one of the reasons why he has quickly become one of the best in the business.
