London club land has taken its fair share of beatings in recent years. The closure of Fabric, via operation ‘Fabric Softener’ and now the new draconian council regulations imposed on nightlife by Hackney council.

However in our very anti-establishment and ultimately uncompromising way dance music and the underground has once again fault back and kept on going. Matt Wells the owner of new venture UNDR have announced they will be opening a venue in the heart of Dalston, located at 36 Stoke Newington Road (formerly The Nest) in an intimate basement space. Anyone involved in London clubbing is aware of the vast potential that this small 300 capacity venue and it appears that new management team is intent on taking UNDR to the next level.

I believe that The Nest was always the best intimate clubbing experience in the capital. We’ve now improved the core elements of that experience, namely the Martin Audio sound and lighting. These changes were made to further enhance the customer experience and ensure that UNDR can showcase the best up-and-coming raw talent in music alongside some legends. I own and operate my venues from an independent standpoint, and therefore allow my team to have a free-flowing creative edge. I believe this will be illustrated in our bookings and the culture within the venue.

Having spoken with the UNDR team The RRP waits in anticipation for the 20 newly installed lasers, Martin Audio sound system and the soon to be announced autumn line up meaning UNDR and ultimately Dalston will still be firmly fighting for London club land.
