Good music. Bad Music. House Music. Disco Music. There is a full spectrum of sounds available and depending on your vices, background and social restraints your opinions of these may vary. However at The RRP we think it is important to review some of the music currently out for release. This week we are looking at new music from Dansu Discs and in particular the remix provided by Glaswegian party starter, Big Miz.

Dansu Discs have come a long way since their birth back in March 2017 collecting a heavy arsenal of talent along the way. Subjoi, LUZ1E, Tech Support and Ethyene are just some of the names already creating a noise on the Manchester label. Although it had a steady stream of quality releases things started gathering momentum when its Club Culture VA on 12″ sold out. The hype was real and the label instantly garnered a new found respect amongst its peers. This was in part thanks to the star-studded line up of XXXY, Anthony Fade, Soundbwoy Killah and Interplanetary Criminal.

Dance music is not an industry where you can ride on a single success. The constant conveyor belt of releases. The endless streams of producers vying to climb the charts. Labels pumping out EP after EP. It requires a special determination and grit to stand out. Dansu Discs seem to epitomise this drive. Kickstarting 2019 at full throttle, they have invited New Yorker X-Coast onto the books with his Bailando EP. Remix duties are always an important part of any release and it appears Dansu Discs don’t take the decision lightly. Irish heavyweight Tommy Holohan and Glasgow talent Big Miz are both contributing making for an exciting EP.

Its hard to pick a stand out track though as the EP provides 4 club ready weapons. With each track bringing its own uniqueness to the front and different contribution. It’s a difficult choice, choosing between Tommy’s heavy yet euphoric breakbeat remix and the acidified piano-ridden groover from Big Miz. However if we have to pick one we are going with the Glaswegian.

I’m sure we aren’t alone when we say that we’re a sucker for that 303 sound. Therefore the infatuating acid bass line had us hooked from the get go. Driving directly to the heart of the music. As it moves forward slowly opening up throughout, feeding our addiction even more. This occurs while accompanied by cleverly panned sounds of percussion and tribal vocals darting from every direction. Tensions all build towards a long awaited piano solo, one straight from the Bellaire notebook.

Big Miz has sculptured and finessed the remix stamping his own vision on the track, with out deviating too far from the original elements. Its A complex and intelligent remix and the sign of a skilled remixer. If you’re a fan of the rest of the release don’t hold out too long as its sure to sell out.
