As always we trawl the listings, dig through the dirt and find our essential UK parties. One thing we have noticed in recent weeks is the sheer volume of quality events up and down the country. Although by no means scientific, our research appears to show a booming UK scene. Small, independent promoters appear to be the life blood of the community and whilst big venues appear to be struggling the small fish are thriving. Below is a list of 5 events from across the UK that are definitely worth your time this weekend.

Prins Thomas, Eagles & Butterflies and Rees at The Cause, London

This Friday The RRP return to London’s favourite warehouse space The Cause for our second party of 2019. After causing quite a stir with Nd_Baumecker and Johannes Heil they welcome another all star line up. This week Innervisions mainstay Eagles & Butterflies heads to London from his base in LA. The UK national has been relentlessly touring over the last month in Australia and Europe whilst also delivering a string of high quality productions along the way.

He will be joined by the space disco master Prins Thomas. The Norweigian DJ is currently one Europes most impressive selectors. His high energy sound have been responsible for creating a wave of support for the growing Skandinavian movement so popular on the continent. The final guest is rising star, REES. The young gun has shot to fame over the last year and has been selling out shows across the UK, Switzerland and most recently found himself on the prestigious Red Light Radio. This will be a show full of hidden gems, unreleased edits and high energy crowds.

B.L.O.O.M. X Dance For Refuge International Women’s Day at The White Hotel, Manchester

Manchester based promoters B.L.O.OM have teamed up with Dance for Refuge to celebrate International Woman’s Day. This will be dance for Refuge’s first event in Manchester having raised £25,000 since their inception in 2015. To celebrate the night in style the two crews have bought an A-team line up to Manchester’s White Hotel. Kiara Scuro, one of the most exciting up and coming DJ duo’s on the circuit are residents on Balamii Radio. They will bring their blend of chuggy groovers and dark hypnotic beats and will be joined by Solid Blake.

Solid Blake has cut her teeth out in Copenhagen, regularly playing out in some of the cities best venues. Putting her debut Mario EP out in 2017 on Outer Zone Imprint, she has gone on to play at some of the best clubs and festivals across Europe. De school, Dekmantel and Berghain all feature. The final artist is one of our favourite artists at the moment, IMOGEN. At the age of 16 she moved to London to pursue a career in music production and her talent is evident. An impressive line up showcasing their skills for a worthy cause. Definitely worth a trip if you are in the city.

The Brickworks with Or:la and Big Miz in Birmingham

Watching the Derry-born, Liverpool-based artist Or:la it quickly becomes apparent she likes to take the audience on a journey. She is not one for putting on a show but rather let her music do the talking. This Saturday she heads to Birmingham to play a truly intimate warehouse space. The Brickworks has recently been redesigned for forward thinking music across a series of specially curated one off events of which this is one.

Joining Or:la is Chris McFarlane, better known as Big Miz. An artist that is proof of Glasgow’s seemingly endless talent pool of artists entering the electronic scene. Between the running of club nights and productions he has soaked up Glasgow’s obscure after-hours party culture. His sets are high energy and like Or:la they both enjoy spanning various genres and seamlessly tweaking the mood on the dance floor with a selection of left field tracks that take you out of your comfort zone. A wicked venue and a solid line up to match.

Club Blanco with Moscoman at The Boxing Club, Bristol

For their second event of 2019 Club Blanco invite Son of Israel Moscoman to The Boxing Club. An increasingly influential figure in alternative club culture over the past few years Moscoman is also the proprietor of record label ‘Disco Halal.’ From his beginnings across the dive bars of Tel Aviv, bridging the myriad sounds of his homeland with alien electronic excursions from much further afield, to his current success doing much of the same to ever-widening audiences. Furthermore, Moscoman has long since been blurring musical boundries. Evolving only forward, effortlessly bridging the gap between new-wave, house, techno, trance and a sound increasingly all of his own. This is for the headsier side of dance music and a night we would highly recommend to any discerning clubber.

OCD 2nd Birthday at The Art Department, Belfast

In early 2008, age 18, Space Dimension Controller made his first album in his bedroom in Belfast. This Friday he returns to his home town to celebrate OCD’s 2nd birthday. His sound over the years has cultivated a style of electronic music that is indebted to synth-led cinema scores, the electro-funk rap of Egyptian Lover, the avant-dance of Aphex Twin and the ambient electronic haze of Boards of Canada.

Space Dimension Controller will be joined by the young producer, Lewis Matheson who has been impressing the local crowds with his high quality productions over the past year. OCD resident Callum Lawlor will be on support duties and you are guaranteed a night of debauchery and high octane drummer associated with the OCD crew.
