Good music. Bad music. Your music. My music. There is now so much music out there spanning so many genres it is not always easy to know where to start. At The RRP we try our hardest to make choosing where to spend your money that little bit easier. Yes we love the big name movers and shakers. However we also live for the underground, the up and coming and the extraordinary. As part of our Club Watch series we pick the 5 essential UK parties that should be on your radar this weekend.

Batty Bass presents Virginia at Micks Garage, London

This weekend Hannah Holland returns to East London with her Batty Bass party. As an artist Holland has played a pivotal role in London’s alternative and queer London club scene since the mid-naughties. Having always credited the cultural melting pot of London as her biggest inspiration. The community, musical exploration and the transcendent potential of its many dance floor’s has been pivotal in her evolution. These inspirations seem to effortlessly translate through her impressive repertoire of sounds each and every time she steps behind the decks.

This weekend she will be joined by one of our favourite artists, Virginia. The talented DJ, singer, songwriter and producer has been deeply involved in electronic music for over a decade. Having built a reputation for fierce sets that combine her rich voice with sultry house tones as well as heavier faster numbers it is no surprise, Virginia is considered one of Panorama Bars greatest talents.  Combine Virginia’s high energy with Hannah Holland’s impressive range and you have the ingredients for a superb night of dancing.

Augmented presents Objekt & Gigi FM

Augmented have been on a radar for some time thanks in part to an impressive run of events for 2019. Taking their events across the North East they are billing massive artists like Detroit Swindle, Mella Dee and this weeks headliner Objekt.

Many musicians are genre-hoppers these days, but few have an inventive take on every style they touch. Objekt aka TJ Hertz could be an exception to the rule. Born in Tokyo to British-American and Filipino parents, TJ Hertz grew up in Belgium and the UK before settling in Berlin in 2009, where he released his first record, the white-label Objekt #1, in 2011. Across his subsequent club output audacious sound design and meticulous arrangements have served to buckle and twist dance floor conventions across a range of genres.

Supporting him is GiGi FM. One of London newcomer’s she has a love for the element of surprise makes her well-suited to support Objekt. Her style blends deep melodic techno and trance with curveballs such as Cardi B and Björk.

Classic Records showcase – Honey Dijon , Luke Solomon at Lab 11, Birmingham

The Classic Music Company by Luke Solomon & Derrick Carter continue to play the game under their own conditions. As a label it never died it merely retreated in order to come back stronger. This weekend Classic Records will do exactly that with its return to Birmingham. Label boss Luke Solomon has invited along his partner in crime & disco royalty in the form of Honey Dijon.

It is rare that these two names need any support in guaranteeing a good night of dancing but as lovers of the extraordinary and purveyors of excellence they will team up with Birmingham based promoters Leftfield and Hooker Club. The event will take place at Lab 11 and see the local promoters field their own residents alongside the main billing. Expect a blend of music from across the board well into Sunday morning.

Rex The Dog at Wire Club, Leeds

Our music policy at The RRP is simple. It falls into two categories; Good and Bad. Promoter crews Release and Rendezvous are both staunch advocates of the first category hence our constant support for their work. This Wednesday they bring the modular maniac to the Wire Club basement.

Making and performing music with analogue electronics and a self-built Modular Synthesizer is Rex The Dog’s passion. So much so he carries this precious machinery around the world in order to bring his idiosyncratic sounds to packed crowds throughout the globe. In order to set the scene for the the magic of Rex The Dog will be sets from a host of talented DJs. Local Leeds brand Limit will deliver the sounds that have made them such an important part of the thriving city. As well as support from both the Release and Rendezvous DJs. All capable selectors with a knack for reading and relating to the dance floor in a way that creates the perfect beginning to what will be a serious night of music.

Tessellate & Bade Records with ND_Baumecker at Corsica Studios, London

Tessellate have been a crew that regularly throw down some of the best parties in the capital. Their ability to book ahead of the curve has been the key to their ever growing success. This weekend they team up with Bade Records. An independent electronic label based in both London and Berlin. Founded back in 2013 by Brothers Black and Tape Fear they have seen some impressive releases since their inception.

This weekend the two crews invite ND_Baumecker to Corsica Studios. The German native is easily up there with the worlds best. A flawless DJ that has honed his craft over many years. He has an innate craving for evolution in his sets which comes from watching and learning from his peers. We welcomed him to one of our recent events and his ability to move between groovy house to mellower 4/4 sounds made for unbelievable listening. In support will be Canadian artists LNS who now bases her self in Berlin as well as Brothers Black and Tape Fear. If you consider yourself a musical head, open to exploration and undiscovered music we could not recommend this night any more.
