We are back at it after another sun soaker of a bank holiday weekend with episode 031 of The RRP Podcast series. This week we hand over to French-born artist, ANMA who is in love with the sounds of underground techno.

As a child, ANMA grew up playing more traditional instruments including, the Guitar and Piano. A more conforming approach to music throughout his formative years was enough to pique his musical interest however it was the world of dark underground beats he was really drawn to.

Accustomed to the stage, his music and inspirations come from the world and his feelings. Those aware of his productions will notice him tending to immerse himself in a dark, soaring sonic universe. He co-founded the Hover Mind label and is also part of Arrival with FIB so is deeply entrenched in the scene with his own unique perspective.

ANMA has just announced his latest EP with compatriot JOVEM who switches up progressive house and melodic techno. As such, we thought it fitting to invite him into the mix. The EP that is titled, ‘Birds Mind’ is the collision of two musical worlds. It was made during a day in an apartment surrounded by two monitor speakers, synthesizers and a computer before a hectic night in the largest club in Toulouse. The track features a pan flute, ethnic percussion and fat bass that will lift up the floor and then mesmerize with catchy arpeggios that bring real color.

ANMA’s ‘Wild Horse’ “is an invitation to a journey through the wilderness, as if you were a fiery horse in search of freedom”. This plays out with real tension and texture in the brooding techno grooves, augmented by storytelling synths that build tension and take you on a real adventure.

Finally, JOVEM’s ‘Redemption’ is “the story of the devil who came down to earth to understand the real behavior of humans”. In real terms, it is an epic bit of progressive techno with majestic synth breakdowns and upright drums that together will get hands in the air.
